POINT-TO-POINT
Dannevirke Club at Takapau GOOD CROWD ATTENDS From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPpKUBAU, August 1. A point-to-point meeting was held at Takapau to-day under the auspices of the Dannevirke Hunt Club. Despite the unfavourable weather there was a good attendance, representative of the Central Hawke’s Bay district, with entries from Dannevirke to as far afield as Hastings. Though threatened at the outset with heavy rain, the meeting was fortunate in having fine fresh weather, with a few intermittent showers which lasted about an hour. The going was very heavy, but fortunately there were only two spills during the whole day, neither entailing any injuries to the riders concerned. Mr V. Vallance, of Masterton who judged the jumping events, stated that the displays, taking into consideration the heavy nature of the ground, were of a very high standard.
