VALUES MAINTAINED

Store Sheep at Stortford VERY SMALL YARDING The store sheep market was generally much on a par with last week at the Stortford Lodge sale yesterday, there being little, if any, alteration. There was a mere handful of sheep offering in this , section, being confined chiefly to small farmers’ lots. There were no outstanding sheep included, one of the few really good lines offered being a pen of ewe hoggets of good type which sold out at 23/10. Demand was fair and with moderate competition there was no slackening on late rates Breeding ewes in lamb sold relatively well, as did good lines of ewe hoggets. Some ot the entries and prices paid were as follow:— • A pen of 90 white-face ewe hoggets, small framed, store conditioned and off hill country, realised 15/8. A plain line of 85 empty ewes, store conditioned, made 10/-. Running with Southdown rams put out at tho end of March, a pen of 4-th to 4-year ewes, well framed, fresh conditioned and fairly woolled, sold at 26/7. Fairly grown and store conditioned, a pen of Romney crossbred ewe hoggets met the market at 18/6. Well mouthed and of good type, a small pen of 29 5 and 6-yr eweg, close to lambing and run with Romney rams, made 23/2. In from and on account of Atua Station, a line of 127 fat and forward wethers, fairly framed and well woolled, sold out at 22/6.

A bid of 23/10 failed to secure a pen of 91 Romney crossbred ewe hoggets, well grown and in good order. In lamb to Rtomney and Southdown rams, a pen of fairly mouthed 6-yr ewes realised 20/6. A pen of 132 Romney crossbred ewe hoggets, off hill country, mixed as to size and store conditioned, passed at 15/6. A bid of 20/- secured a pen of 90 white-face wether hoggets, well grown and in good order. Sixty-eight store conditioned 2-th wethers made 19/2.

A pen of 156 2-th ewes, close to lambing and depastured with Romney rams, fairly woolled and in fairly good order, passed at 23/9.
