HASTINGS WOMEN’S LEAGUE
There was an excellent attendance of mothers with their children at the Hastings Trades Hall on Tuesday. The j Women’s Peace Army song was the ' first, item on tho programme, followed I by tho singing of “Solidarity for j Ever." A vote of condolence was carried for M’-s Rigg in he' rectiif I bereavement, memb'-rs all standing in silence. Tho secretary pave two interesting readings, entitled “The Has-beens’’ and “Hold On.” There was also another reading on the significance of Arbor Day. A competition in the second senes of an advertisement was held. The last one will be held at some future date. Next week will he the ordinary business meeting, and the following week the Rev. Mr Miller will speak on women and the peace movement. It was decided that this meeting of Hastings women pledge themselves in doing their utmost to educate their children in the need for protection of native bush and birds. At the close of the afternoon Mesilaines Russ and Lane served a sumptuous tea for tho various children’s birthdays.
