REDCLYFFE BRIDGE

Opening on Thursday Week The finishing touches arc now being carried out on the new reinforced concrete bridge at Redelyffe, Taradale, and it is anticipated that the structure will be opened for traffic on Thursday week. A gang of Post and Telegraph employees have been busy during the last few days moving existing poles at the approach and making provision for the carrying of the wires on the bridge. Once the new bridge is available a start will be made by the Hawke’s Bay County Council with the dismantling of the old wooden structure which was damaged by the earthquake and since temporarily repaired. Designed by the late Mr C. D. Kennedy and erected in 1882, it has given good service to the district. Its early removal is now desired for fear of it being wrecked by flood and piled against the new briilg-. causing considerable damage.
