ALL NATIONS FAIR

Opens on Thursday FEATURES OF PROGRAMME The All Nations Fair to be held in the Hastings Drill Hall on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this week gives every promise of being a great success, and the organising secretary, Miss Ruth Niblock, reports that all the details of the programme for the three days and three niglits are now complete. An especially attractive feature will be the wearing of national costume by those helping in the stalls, and elsewhere, and each group will be attired in a costume representing some nation. The processions on Thursday evening and Saturday evening will leave the Municipal Buildings at 7.15 o’clock, and prizes for fancy costume and lor decorated vehicles will be awarded. Particulars of the various classes, as well as of the competitions in cooking, needlework, essay-writing, handicrafts, and so on are obtainable from Miss Niblock, and entries are still being accepted. There will be stalls for produce, needlework, ice-creams, sweets, flowers, cakes, books, and other goods, and refreshments will be available both afternoon and evening. Among the special features are to be an exhibition of chrysanthemums by Mr. C. Hixon, and wool and weaving display, and a demonstration of pottery-making by Miss Elizabeth Matheson, of Havelock North. The following is the three days’ programme in detail:—Thursday.—Opening ceremony by the Mayor, Mr. G. A. Maddison, at 2.30 p.m. At 3.30 p.m. national dancing by pupils of Miss Doris Shapleski and competitions for school children. Evening: 7.15, procession leaves the Municipal Buildings; 8.30 p.m., tug-o’-war between Hastings and Napier borough councils at the Drill Hall; 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., two concerts for children in the hall by Aunt Gwen and Uncle Ed, with Cousin Joycie, of Wairoa, Cousin Murray, Cousin Paul, and a number of others assisting. Friday.—Fair opens from 1] a.m. Afternoon: Demonstrations, games, exhibitions, concerts. Evening: Enteitainment by the Hastings Orphans’ Club. Saturday.—2.3o p.m., Scotch and Irish dancers. Evening: Procession leaves Municipal Buildings at 7.15. Miss Ballantync’s pupils and the Copper Trail Ballet. 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., grand auction sale. The admission to the hall will bt 61 for adults and 3d for children, and to the concert chamber 3d for adults and Id for children.
