FOUND SHOT IN HEAD
Takapau Resident in Serious Condition A distressing happening was discovered at Takapau at 7.30 this morning, when Arthur Earnest Paget was found in a shed at the back of his residence with a bullet wound from a .22 rifle in his head. Medical assistance was summoned, and the injured man was conveyed by ambulance to the Waipukurau Public Hospital. On arrival there he was admitted to the operating theatre, and an operation was immediately performed. His. condition is very serious, and little hope is entertained of his recovery. Mr Paget is a married man with a grown-up family, and is well known and highly respected throughout the district. He is the proprietor of a carrying business at Takapau. Some time ago 1m was a patient at the Waipukurau Hospital for several months, where he suffered from a serious illness. Later he went to Palmerston North, where he had a leg amputated, since when he had not enjoyed the best of health.
