COMING EVENTS

A business girls’ dance will be held at the Country Club, Havelock North, to-night (Monday). Nimon’s bus leaves Hastings at 8. The Hawke’s Bay hounds will meet, on Thursday at Mrs. H. Simmons’ Waitangi plantation, Mangatahi, at 12 noon. At the present day much interest centres in Palestine, and on Tuesday night in Nelson Street Hall, Hastings, Mr. Munro Stewart will give a public address on travels and present-day conditions in the Holy Land. The Hastings Bayites’ Club will meet to-morrow evening, and not this evening as was previously stated. Important business is to be discussed, and a full attendance of members is requested. Miss Constance Macdonald, principal of the Max Studio of Dancing, invites all who are interested to watch a demonstration of class work by her pupils on Tuesday, May 8, at 3 o’clock at the Assembly Hall. Admission is free but there will be a silver collection. On Thursday next at the Oddfellows’ Hall, the Hereta.unga Swimming Club will ring down the curtain on the season’s activities, when, during their annual dance, the trophies won during the season will be presented by the club’s patron, Mr. G. A. Maddison. Admission to other than club members is by invitation only, and club members are asked to hand in any names of friends or club supporters requiring invitations to the secretary immeditely. Sixteen Houts have been arranged by the Hawke's Bay Boxing Association for its “all-amateur” boxing tournftr ment to be held in the Cosy Stadium, Karamu road. Hastings, this evening. With such a bill of fare the association is confident that there will be a big attendance at the ringside, especially with the admission prices so reasonable. As an additional attraction an exhibition bout will be given by the two well-known pros.. Tommy Donovan and Leu Knuckey.
