JAPANESE COMPETITION

Quotas for Cotton and Rayon , LONDON, May 2. The “Morning Post” says: “As a result of negotiations between the Government, Crown Colony administrators and Lancashire industrialists an agreement has been reached to restrain Japanese competition in textiles by means of quotas. It is believed that the Rt. Hon. W. Runciman will to-day inform Mr Matsudaira that he will be compelled to put quotas into operation failing an agreement. Air Runciman, when asked for a statement on the conversations between the British and Japanese Governments relating to the cotton and rayon industries, said he was having further consultations with the Japanese Ambassador to-morrow. He expected to make a statement on the position next week.
