Crawford Beats Boussus (Received 4, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, May 8. In the singles quarter-finals of the Eastbourne tennis tournament, Crawford defeated Boussus I—6,1 —6, &—4, I—6, 6—2, 6 —4; Kirby defeated McGrath 6—4, 6—l, 6—l; Perry defeated Milo 6 —2, 6 —l, 6 —2.

Women’s singles, fourth round: Miss Round defeated Miss WhittingstaU 3—6, 6—4, 6 —3; Miss defeated Miss Dearman 7—9, 7—5, 6—2. Mixed doubles:. Sharpe and Miss Dearman defeated Hopman and Mrs Hopman B—6,8 —6, 3 —6, 6 —3. Second round: Stedman and Miss McAlpine defeated Kirby and Miss Heeley 2—6, 7—5, 6 —3 ; Malfroy and Miss Stammers defeated Peters and Mrs Peters B—6, 6-3.

Men’s doubles, third round: Perry and Lee defeated Kirby and Miki 6—2, 6—4, 2 —6, 4—6, 6 —-3; Boussus and Merlin defeated Mishimura and Kamagishi 7—5, 6—4, 6—2. McGrath never settled down against Kirby’s top spin drives. McGrath’s backhand was bad. Kirby said he never played better. Everything went right. Boussus was very steady against Crawford. but the Australian was superior in the last two sets.
