SPRING DATES CHANGED. For many years the Auckland Racing Club held its spring meeting in Novem- i her at the same time as the Canterbury Jockey Club’s New Zealand Cup meeting. In 1927, in order to obviate the clashing of these two metropolitan meetings the Auckland Racing Club altered its dates to October and continued to race in that month till 1932, when it reverted to the November dates, its meeting again being held at the same time as that of the Canterbury Jockey Club. The Auckland Club has now decided to again race in October, and for next season has applied for October 13 and 15, while the Avondale Jockey Club has applied for November 3 and 5 for its spring meeting, these dates being those that would have been used by Auckland if it had again decided to race in November. The applications will go on to the dates committee for its sanction, and will come before the Conference in July for final approval. 'the secretary of the A.R.C., when asked as to the reason for making another change said the Idea was to try and get away from the continuous objections of the Canterbury Jockey Club regarding the two metropolitan meetings clashing. The Canterbury Jockey Club could have no objection to the Avondale Racing Club racing on the same dates as them. The committee felt that it was a fair offer and that the Canterbury Jockey Club would take advantage of it.
