The Southport Tourney COURSE RECORD BROKEN (Received 4, 2.15 p.m.l LONDON, May 3. In the Dunlop golf tournament, 69 players with aggregates of 154 or under qualified for the final two rounds. Padgham is leading with 140, Laoey 142, Rudd, Mitchell, Branch, McDowall 143, and Cotton and Ayton 144. Others include R. Whitcombe 145, Compston. C. Whitcombe, Hodson and Brews 146, E. Whitcombe 147, Havers and Easterbrook 148, Seymour 149, Allies 150, Boomer, King and Davies 153. To-day’s play at Southport produced a great surprise. Cotton on Wednesday was “out of the running.” To-day Cotton and Ayton, the 50-year-old Scotsman, formerly prominent in St Andrew’s first as an amateur and then as a professional, were playing together, and each had a round of 66. breaking the record for the 6800-yard course, Ayton took only 25 putts and Cotton 26.
