PLUNKET DANCE

OTANE SOCIETY’S ANNUAL FUNCTION. The annual dance of the Otane Plunket Society which took place in the Otane Town Hall on Wednesday night, was one ol the most largely attended and successful functions the society has yet held. The hall was full to overflowing, visitors being present Hom ail parts outlie district and many from other districts. The decorations, consisting ol palms, flowers and autumu loliage, artistically blended and arranged, looked charmingly attractive, and combined with the many beautiful and colourful dresses worn by the ladies present created a scene of beauty and brilliance. Card tables were arranged tn the supper-room and a large number availed themselves of the opportunity to play bridge. Mr Lgs Henry’s orchestra supplied popular and much-appreciated music, and extras were kindly played by Miss V. Smith, Messrs 11. Rust and N. Mundell. Messrs J. Stephens and B. Ashby carried out the duties of Al.C.’s m a most praiseworthy manner. A dainty and appetising supper of sweets and savouries was served by the committee, and the task of successfully catering lor the needs of such a large assemblage was no small undertaking. The dance secretary, Mrs B. Clark, and her committee are to be congratulated and may justly feel proud of the result of their efforts, for a more delightful and enjoyable evening than that spent by their ninny patrons on Wednesday night would be difficult to imagine. The winners of the bridge were: Ladies, Mrs. Lockhart; gentlemen, Mr. R. H. White; lucky number, Mrs. C'orskie. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr. and Mrs. B. Carlson.
