Details of Programme FIXTURE FOR NEXT WEEK The following is the programme for the three days of the All Nations Fair to bo held in the Hastings Drill Hall next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, in aid of the Mayor’s Copper Trail appeal:— Thursday.—Opening ceremony by the Mayor, Mj G. A. Maddison, at 2.30 p.m. At 3.30 p.m., national dancing by pupils of Miss Doris Shapleski and competitions for school children. .Evening: 7.15. procession leaves the Municipal Buildings; 8.30 p.m., tug-o’-war between Hastings and Napier borough councils at the Drill Hall; 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., two concerts for children conducted in the hall by Aunt Gwen and Uncle Ed, with Cousin Joycie, of Wairoa, Cousin Murray, Cousin Paul, and a number of others assisting. Friday.—Fair opens from 11 a.m. Afternoon: Demonstrations, games, exhibitions, concerts. Evening: Entertainment by the Hastings Orphans’ Club. Saturday.—2.3o p.m., old fashioned parade, Scotch and Irish dancers. Evening: Procession leaves Municipal Buildings at 7.15. Miss Ballantyne’s pupils and the Copper Trail Ballet. 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., grand auction sale. The admission to the hall will be. 6d for adults and 3d for children, and to the concert chamber 3d for adults and Id for children. The following stalls, in which those serving will be dressed to represent different nations, will bo under the direction of the Mayoress, Mrs G. A. Maddison : —Produce, needlework, icecreams, sweets, hot dogs, flowers, cakes, bran tubs, and boo Ks. Refreshments will be served both afternoon and evening in a special room, and are being arranged by the women’s guilds of the various churches in the town. It has been the endeavour of the organisers of the fair to include among the attractions a number of demonstrations that will be both educative and interesting to children as well as to adults, and to that end they have arranged a wool display by the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, a display of pottery-making by Miss Elizabeth Matheson, of Havelock North, and a special display of chrysanthemums by Mr C. Hixon, the wellknown grower. A great deal of time and thought is being given to the arranging of the wool display, and various processes in tho making of woollen goods, and of the handling of the raw material from the sheep's back to the finished article, will bo demonstrated by experts. Miss Matheson, who C well known for her beautiful work in potterymaking as well as in other branches of artistic handicraft, will demonstrate daily the various stages of the work, and discuss with anyone interested any aspect of the art that they may wish to he informed upon. Weaving also will be demonstrated in a special display by an expert. By special permission of the Minister v Internal Affairs, £lO in alluvial gold will be available for participants in an art union, and it is understood that for that sum the Tourist Motor Co. will allow the winner to buy a new HillmanMinx motor-car.
