WAIPUKURAU CLUB
FINANCES SATISFACTORY. The committee of the Waipukurau Jockey Club had the pleasure of receiving a very satisfactory interim balance sheet of their last Easter Monday meeting. This showed a profit which was considered by members to be very satisfactory at the present time, and which, together with a small profit on the Boxing Day meeting, will be the means of enabling the club io continue their policy of always allotting more stake money than the Rules of Racing require them to do. Like other racing clubs, the Waipukurau Jockey Club has been through a period of financial stress, and it is pleasing to note that it has apparently turned the corner. It will bo exceedingly gratifying when the same can bo said of all other Hawke’s Bay racing chibs. In expressing his satisfaction at the pleasing result of the club’s two meetings, the Chairman, Mr P. F. Wall, said the thanks of the committee were due to the secretary for the efficient manner in which the work and requirements had been attended to. It was also fitting that the members of the staff should be recognised, as each and every one of them had exerted themselves in a loyal and efficient manner to make the venture what it was, a great success. The chairman’s remarks were endorsed by other speakers and there is no doubt tho tributes paid are thoroughly w-ell deserved. The club’s executive too must be given some credit for the happy state of affairs, for the honorary officers are all men who spare no efforts to popularise their club, and they have contributed in great measure to bring this about.
