THE GREAT FLOOD

Bible Story Confirmed Unmistakable evidence of tbe truth of the Biblical story of the Great Flood in Irak has been one of the most important discoveries at Ur of the Chaldees, says ‘‘The London Times.” Commenting on the fact that alter 12 seasons of careful and scientific exploration tho joint expedition of the British Museum and the University of Pennsylvania has completed its labours at Ur, the “Times” says:— “Their work has marked an epoch in archaeology. For the first time two distinct scientific institutions of two countries have co-operated, and their successive campaigns represent the longest continuous examination of a site that has yet been undertaken. “The excavations have carried back the record to the first human occupation of the Euphrates Valley when Ur was a hamlet in a marsh. The discoveries have illustrated with, an astonishing wealth of detail periods formerly known in, the barest outline. Abundant light has been thrown on tho domestic life of the people of Ur 20 centuries before the Christian era.” The excavations showed that a flood of gigantic dimensions—which left lift, of silt at one point near Ur—once overwhelmed the lowlands of Irak and destroyed its settlements.
