APRIL RAINFALL

Reports From Various Districts Mr Lachlan McLean, of “Glencoe”, Maraekakaho, reports the following rainfull for the month of April: April 1, .01; 10th, .06; 11th., .03; 19th., .01; 20th., .01; 24th., .28; 25th; .60; 26th., .08. During the month rain tell on eight days, the total for the month reading 1.08 inches and for the period January 1 to April 30 14.03 inches. The following rainfall figures for Napier for the month of April are supplied by Mr T. K. Hutton, Government recorder: —10th, 0.09; 19th, 0.10; 20th, 0.02; 24th, 0.49; 25th, 0.53; 26th, 0.04; 29th, 0.01; total, 1.28 inches. The figures for April for the preceding six years are as follow: —1928, 0.91 in.; 1929. 0.71 in.; 1930, 1.60 in.; 1931, 2.14 in.; 1932, 2,94 in.; 1933, 1.34 in. The following figures dealing with • the weather during the month are also supplied by Mr Hutton: Highest temperature recorded, 78.9 degrees, on April 18; lowest temperature recorded, 37.2 degrees, on April 13; lowest terrestrial temperature, 32.5 degrees, on April 13; total hours bright sunshine, 181.3; greatest amount of sunshine on any day, 10.3 hours on April 3 and April 4; days on which no sunshine recorded, April 20, 26, and 29; total miles run by wind indicator, 2650; greatest run in one day, 202 miles, on April 17; smallest run in one day, 35 miles, on April 3.
