OBITUARY

General von Einem The death is reported from Berlin of General von Einem, a German wartime general. Mr. R. J. S. Morris The death took place a. Kotemaori on April 4 of a very highly esteemed resident of the district, in the person of Mr Robert James Surtherland Morris, who had resided in the district for the last five years, during which time he had by hjs sterling character and great kindliness gained the esteem of all with whom he came in contact. The late Mr Morris was born at Sawyer’s Bay, Dunedin, 71 years ago, his parents having been amongst the early settlers of Otago. He came to the North Island while still a comparatively young man, and wns farming at Wainui, in the Wairarapa district, for some 28 years before coming to Hawke’s Bay. He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Bessie Rowe, the marriage having taken place in 1887. His second wife was Miss Ella Wood, who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters of the first marriage, Mrs Tom Burlington and Miss Tass Morris, and bv three young children of the second marriage. To all of these tn their sorrow will be extended the deep sympathy of many friends in various parts of the Dominion. The interment took place at the Eskdale Cemetery on Friday, the funeral being attended by a large number of friends. Many beautiful wreaths and messages of sympathy were also received.
