PERMANENT SURFACING

Hastings Borough Roads SPLENDID PROGRESS MADE Splendid progress has been made by the Hastings Borough Council in the work of permanent surfacing Frederick street with bituminous concrete. It is expected that the work will be completed on Wednesday next, when a distance of 72 chains in this street will be laid. A distance of 15 chains in Tomoana road of similar work was recently completed by the borough’s hot-mix plant. Owing to both routes being traffic feeders a considerable improvement will be effective following the surfacing work now being done. It is understood that next year’s programme includes the carrying out of this class of work on certain other roads where it is warranted by the volume of traffic.
