Butter Quiet at 72/- to 73/CHEESE PRICES STEADY There was little change in the London butter market last week. The demand was slow, with a tendency for stocks to increase. Deliveries of New Zealand butter were 1701 tons, compared with 2018 tons for the previous week. The quantity of New Zealand butter in store moved up to 11,112 tons compared with 10.572 tons at the end of the previous week and 8200 tons a year ago. Tho Imperial Economic Committee’s estimate of the stocks of all butters is 1,009,216 boxes, compared with 892,650,000 boxes a year ago.
New Zealand salted butter was quot. ed on Friday as 72/- to 78/- a cwt., compared with 73/- to 74/- a week previously. A year ago the price was 65/- to 67/-. Danish butter at 85/spot shows a decline of 7/- on the week, the f.o.b. quotation being 62/as against 65/. a week ago. Australian at 70/- to 71/- is 2/- a cwt. below the New Zealand level. The cheese market is quiet, but fairly steady, Friday's quotations being 6d a cwt. down on those of' the previous week. A year ago New Zealand white cheese was selling at 37/to 38/-, or 6/- to 6/6 a cwt. below the current price. Unsalted, 72/- to 73/- (T2I- to 73/-; April 4, 1933, 65/- to 68/-). Deliveries, New Zealand, 1701 tons. In store, 11,112 tons, includes 2150 tons ex Remuera. Australia, salted. 70/- to 71/- (71/to 72/-); unsalted, 71/-. Deliveries, Australian, 1762 tons. In store, 6900 tons. Argentine, unsalted, 70/- (68/- to 70/-). South Africa. 66/. to 69/-. Danish, 62/. f.0.b.; 85/- snot (65/-; 92/-). Dutch unsalted, 69/- to 78/- (70/to 78/-). Latvian, salted, 72/- (70/- to 71/-); unsalted, 71/- to 72/- (70/- to 73/-).
