APPLES FOR OVERSEAS

Shipments Through Napier DIRECT SAILINGS The Commonwealth and Dominion lines vessel Port Ourtia ie at present in the Roadstead at Napier loading approximately 10,000 cases of apples from the Hastings district. The fruit is being lightered and loaded into the vessel on specially made trays which eliminate any squeezing of the cases. Yesterday 4800 cases were loaded and the remainder will be completed by to-morrow. The apples consist largely of the Delicious variety for the London market, these being a few lines of Sturmers. The vessel is expected to sail about Saturday from Napier for London direct The Shaw, Savill and Albion line’s vessel Karawea is expected at Napier on Monday to load 15,000 cases of Sturmer apples for the Continent. This consignment will consist of 10 per cent. 113 grade, 80 per cent. 125 to 180 and 10 per cent. 198. The vessel is expected to sail to-day week direct for London and Hamburg.
