THURSDAY’S AMUSEMENTS

AT THE GYMKHANA. Women and children are keenly interested in the great Gymkhana to be held on Thursday, for there are many attractions. The baby show should be specially good, for surely one never sees so many lovely babies as in Hawke’s Bay! There are three classes in the baby show for each sex up to 18 months. Some beautiful children have entered. A special prize will be given for twins, but so far there are no entries. Surely there are many twins in the district. For triplets another extra special prize will be given. Then there will be a competition for the best shaped legs. Alen and women will each have a chance to achieve distinction for beauty of form, as there are two classes. It is understood that oije of J. C. Williamson’s leading artists will judge. Won’t this be fun? The first prize for men will be a pair of oilk socks, and the first prize for women an order for a new hat. There will be a cabaret dance in the evening, a mock court and mystery tent organised by J. C. Williamson's company. Then for those interested in the sport of kings there will be a parade of two-year-olds, besides all sorts of horse events.
