The full force of an earthquake shock last week appears to have concentrated upon Cape Kidnappers, where the big rock at the foot of the Black Reef was smashed to pieces. Mr D. G. Williams, the ranger at Kidnappers, said yesterday that if any heavy weight were placed on this rock near the emergency track, it would practically be a thing of the past. At this particular corner, he said, the shake on Thursday seemed to concentrate. He observed also that till a few days ago there was scarcely any sand around the foot of the ladder, but recently sand covered all the rocks. The annual cricket match between the High Schools of Napier and Gisborne takes place this vear at Gisborne next Monday and Tuesday. The Napier team leaves on Sunday nnd returns on Wednesday. The team is ns follows —E. J Palmer (captain), J. E. Armitage, G 1. Bickerstaff, D It. Brown, J. Dalzell. H. Johnson, R. .1. Morrissey, G. Mollctt, K. Phillips, E. Robinson sad B. A. Younghusband
