CRUCIFIX IN THE DAIL

All Denominations Startled SAVOURING OF PROFANITY (Received 19, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, March 18. The “Sunday Times” Dublin correspondent states that the report that a crucifix is being erected in the Dail has startled members of all denominations. It was hoped that the idea had been dropped, but the Committee ol Privileges agreed, and now the Dail’s sanction is awaited. Nevertheless, devout Catholics disagree with the suggestion as savouring of profanity, especially as the Dail includes several non-Catholics and one non-Christian. Moreover, it is a secular body, where the general atmosphere and language are sometimes distinctly un-Christian.
