; Stabilisation Proposal FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyrigb l j SYDNEY, March 16. Definite action has been taken during the week in the direction of stabilising the dairy industry in Australia as a result of Commonwealth and State legislation, and an organisation, being registered as the Commonwealth Dairy Produce Equalisation Co. Ltd., is already at work aiming at bringing the equalisation agreement into operation at the earliest moment. The form of agreement as between the company and manufacturers of butter and cheese has been approved, also the memorandum of articles of association. Provisional directors, with Mr J. Purcell, of Queensland, as chairman, have been appointed. Satisfactory arrangements have been made for the necessary finance aud as soou as the agreements are signed the I various States’ schemes will function. There will bo a levy of fourpence a hundredweight on the total production of butter and twopence on cheese, half of which will be used for administrative purposes and the balance for the creation of a reserve fund. INDIA MAY BAR BUTTER DELHI, March 16. Suggestions are being made to impose a duty on imported butter and to admit dairy equipment free in order to assist local production. There ip an abundant supply available but heavy importations prevent the development of local sources.
