WESTLAND APPOINTMENT

H.B. Assistant County Engineer Mr. W. ,F. Ashley, assistant engineer to the Hawke’s Bay County Council, has been appointed by the Westland County Council to the position of engineer from 39 applicants. Mr. Ashley, who was bora in the Southland district, was employed by the Public Works Department after his return from the war as a supervisor of the building of the Westshore embankment bridge. 1 He later held the position of engineer to the Tekaka County Council until he came to Hawke’s Bay about six years ago to accept his present position. Mr. Ashley has carried out several important works for the County Council, rendering particularly valuable service during the earthquake period.
