HASTINGS COURT
a. ae • Conviction for Theft Before Messrs A. Rosenberg and F. ('. Smith. J.P.’s, tins morning, Bertram I’uulgruiie, aged s*l. was charged with stealing a suit of clothes, valued at L’3 19'6, the property of William James Green at Hastings. The accused was not represented by counsel, and pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant O’Neill stated that a constable saw the accused carrying a parcel and in n semi-drunken condition The constable accosted him, and on examining the parcel he found that it contained the missing suit, which belonged to a kitcheu-hand, and had been hanging on a clothes-line. Re had twice previously been convicted of theft. The Bench sentenced the accused tu uno mouth's hard labour.
