LONDON MEAT PRICES
HENRY S. FITTER’S REPORT. Messrs Henry S. Fitter and Sons, Ltd., through their New Zealand representative, Mr R. L. Bennett, advise that the position of the London meat market at February 22 was as follows:—
N.Z. lambs, 2’s, 6 5-8 d to 6 7-Bd, B’s 6 5-8 d to 6 7-Bd, 4’s 6 5-8 d to 6 7-8 d; secondary lambs, 6 3-8 d to 6 5-8 d; N.Z. mutton, small, 5Jd to 6d, large 4Jd to 5 3-8 d; N.Z. ewes, small 4 3-8 d to 4 5-Bd, large 3 3-8 d to 4 l-8d; N.Z. beef, ox hinds 31d to 31d, fores 2 l-8d to 2 3-8 d; Argentine chilled ox hinds 4Jd to sd, fores 3id to 3Jd; N.Z. Pork, s}d to 6Jd; Australian lambs, 53d to 6}d; Argentine lambs, 53d to 6}d.
Lambs: Trade slow, but demand is likely to improve soon. Wethers: The market is short of supplies; prices nominal. Ewes: The market is short of supplies; prices nominal. Beef: There is a fair demand. Pork: The market is rather easier owing to competition from other sources.
There is a dragging trade at th moment.
