WEDDING

BIXLEY—HODGETTS. On Wednesday last at the Hastings Methodist Church the Rev. E. Nicholls officiated at the marriage of Winifred Emily Hodgetts, daughter of Airs. R. Lee and the late Air. R. Hodgetts, Terrace road, Hastings, to Ralph Edgar Bixlcy, son of Air. and Airs. Bixley, Twyford road, Twyford.

The church had been decorated with large bowls and pink and blue hydrangeas and pink belladonna lilies for the ceremony, and Aliss Napier played the wedding marches. The hymn ‘‘The Voice That Breath'd O’er Eden” was sung.

The bride, who was given away by her step-father, Air. It. Lee, wore a long gracefully moulded frock of ivory georgette, with a buckle of brilliants at the waist. An embroidered tulle veil (lent by Mrs. R. L. Gigg) fell over the frock forming a train. A bouquet of Japanese lilies, roses, and asters, in tones of pink and white was carried. The bridesmaid was Alias Olive Bixley, the bridegroom’s sister, who wore a frock of ankle-length apple-green sand crepe made in Empire style, with green satin shoes and a hat, stockings and gloves to tone. A bouquet of golden gladioli and roses with maidenhair fern and greeu ribbons was carried.

Air. J. Alatthews, of Sherenden, was best man.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr. and Airs. R. L. Gigg, Willow Park road. The tables were decorated with pink and white asters with pink streamers. There were two large white wedding bells, one over the doorway and another above the bride and bridegroom. Large bowls of tiger lilies and gladioli, adorned the room where the wedding presents were displayed and by the doorway and on the verandah were palms. Airs. R. Lee was wearing black crepe-de-chine relieved with beige and a black hat. A bouquet of shaded mauve asters was carried. Airs. Bixley, mother of the bridegroom, was attired in navy blue marocain with grey trimming and a navy blue and grey hat; her bouquet was of red roses.

After the usual congratulations the bride and bridegroom left for AVanganui, the bride wearing an ensemble of Lido blue crepe suede with beige relief and a white hat, shoes, gloves, and bag.
