Prices Increase Sharply

MASTERTON, Feb. 22. Flock Romney rams met with the most sustained sales for years at the annual ram fair to-day. Prices generally showed a sharp increase over last year's, and those realised for the better class of sheep were well in advance of vendors’ expectations. The top price was secured by Sir William Perry (Mastertou), Mr A. Kirkpatrick (Gisborne) paying 30 gns. The demand for stud Romneys was rather restrained, but good quality animals met with a fairly ready gale. Top price of 45 gns. was paid by Mr G. A. Ayre (Waikato) for a shearling sold on account of Mr Q. Donald (Featherston).
