MEEANEE RIVERS MEETING

In the report of the meeting of settlers and local body representatives held at Meeanee un Tuesday night, a certain statement said to have been made by Mr J. Macdonald should have been credited to Mr L. E. Harris. It was after Mr Macdonald had spoken that Mr Harris said: “I am very pleased at the fair way in which the various speakers have given their views. After rearing some letters recently in the papers I gave up thought of coming here to-night. (Laughter.) When I got on to the board I fought against the diversion as i thought it was wrong, and I still think so. I consider that the river should go through the Ahuriri Laguou.
