NEW TURKI RULERS

Turned Out by Tungans

SHORT SPELL IN POWER (Received 23, 12.55 p.m.) CALCUTTA, Feb. 22. The Moslem Governme’nt of the new Turki Republic had a short existence. Several thousand Tungans besieged in the citadel at Kashgar by Republican troops made a successful sortie in the week-end, simultaneously with an attack by a thousand Tuqgan troops on the flank of the Government forces, who retired in disorder.

Khojaniaz Haji (President), the Premier and members of the Government, with a number of troops, fled from the country. No fighting or looting is reported in Kashgar. The Tungans are believed to favour a Chinese Republic.
