WEDDING

PATTERSON—MARRIOTT Trinity Methodist Church, Wanganui, was handsomely decorated on February 10 for the wedding of Marjorie Brenda Marriott, only daughter of Mrs E R. Marriott, Wanganui, and John Patteron, eldest son of Mrs Patterson and the late Mr R. Patterson, of Wanganui. The bride, who entered the church with Mr Eric Marriott, of Napier, wore cream satin beaute, with silk tulle veil, and she carried a sheaf of pastel shaded gladioli and fern. The Misses Jean Patterson and Katrina Knowles were the bridesmaids, wearing shell-pink and peacock blue crinkley organdie respectively, and carrying bouquets of pink and blue hydrangeas.

The Rev. R. Dudley performed the ceremony and Messrs Robert Patterson and Hugh Knowles supported the bridegroom.

After the ceremony a small reception was held at Victoria Hall, and afterwards at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. Patterson. Mrs Marriott wore an ensemble of Lido blue with hat to match, and her posy was of autumn tinted flo vers. Mrs R. Patterson, mother of the Bridegroom, wore black marocain relieved with touches of cherry and carried a bouquest of red carnations and roses. When Mr and Mrs Patterson left the latter wore a frock of Lido blue marocain and a blue hat. JENSEN—COOK An evening wedding of great interest to many people in Central Hawke’s Bay took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Waipukurau, on Wednesday, when Margaret Anne, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. F. Cook, “ Moerangi,” Waipukurau, was married to Leslie William Vernon, third son of Mr Axel Jensen and the late Mrs Jensen, Maharakeke, Hatuma. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. R. Hutchison, and Miss Mavis King played the wedding music. The church, which had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride, made a charming setting for the pretty bridal group. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore an attractive gown of ivory satin beaute, moulded to the figure and falling in graceful flares. The tight-fitting bodice was finished at th» back with rucked petals of satin ribbon, as were also the tight-fitting sleeves. The dainty tulle veil was confined to her head with a circlet of orange blossoms. She carried a beautiful bouquet of cream and shaded pink flowers.

Two bridesmaids were in attendance, Miss Joan Catchpole, cousin of the bride, and Miss T. Jensen, sister of the bridegroom. They were dressed alike in dainty frocks of ivory silk lace, having low-cut backs and puffed elbow’ sleeves; the skirts were tight-fitting to the

knees, from which they fell in deep flares. Their head-dress was composed of a garland of shaded red roses. Red shoes and long georgette mittens were worn and their Victorian posies were of shaded rod roses.

The dainty little flower girl. Patricia Campbell, cousin of the bride, was wearing an early Victorian frock of white satin, with narrow frills, and carried a posy of red roses. Mr Bruce Morton, of Takapau, attended as best man, and Mr Colin Cook, brother of the bride, was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held in St. Andrew’s schoolroom, which was decorated with big bowls of roses and hydrangeas.

Mrs Cook received the guests wearing a model gown of black corded silk relieved with white, and a black and white hat. Her bouquet was of red roses and maidenhair fern. Mrs Jack Rood, sister of the bridegroom, was wearing an attractive, frock of green floral georgette and wide cream hat. Miss M. Cook (Hastings), grey frock and red hat; Mrs H. H. Campbell (Hastings), navy blue marocain and navy hat; Mrs A. McLeod (Hastings), brown marocain with vestee of beige lace and beige hat; Mr F. Morton (Takapau), green floral silk voile and a cream hat; Miss M. Jensen (sister of the bridegroom), frock of beige floral silk voile aud a smart beige hat. 'During the evening songs were rendered by Mrs H. E. Coats and Mr E Haldane. The handsome wedding cake had been made by Mrs J. Fleming. The guests included: Mr and Mrs G.
