RACES AND CERTIFICATES WAIPAWA PUPILS’ EVENTS From Our Own Corresponden* During the visit of the Waipawa school childri n to Napier advantage was taken o” the opportunity to carry out the usual tests for swimming certificates, and in addition a number of races were held, with the following results:— Learners’ certificate, 50 yards.— Primary: Hubert Drake, William Strang, Harry Strang, Sylvia Windle, Pattic McQuilkn ■, Barbara Pederson, Alma Spicer, Ida Pedersen, Maurice Mason. Secondary: Mervyn Bishop, George Grainger, William Mason, Mario Edwards, Margaret Grainger, Verda Thompson, Marie Borker. Proficiency certificate, 220 yards.— Primary: Mervyn McKay, Scotty Tawhai, Douglas McQuilkan (old pupil). Secondly: Jack Adeane, George Christensen (swam '0 yards), Heath Mason, Margaret Taylor, Lconio Collins, Phemie Mclntyre. Merit certificate, 880 yards.-— Secondary: Joy Clark. Results of swimming races were as follow:— Primary: Boys over 12 years: Mervyn McKay 1, Scotty Tawhai 2, Maurice Mason .3 .Boys under 12: Fred Adeane .1, Frank Adeane 2. Girls over 12: Sylvia Windle 1, Ma Pedersen 2 Girls under 12: Pattie McQuilkan 1, Joy Fraser 2.

(Secondary.— Boys over 15: Ken Bibby 1, George Spicer 2, Clifford Lersen .3. Boys under 15: Jack Adeane 1, George Christenson 2, Jack Fox 3. Girls’ over 15 :Maric Preston 1, Phemie McIntyre 2, Margaret Grainger 3. To the first in each race a book will be awarded as a prize.
