Higher Prices Generally
Firmer prices ruled on most of the stock markets throughout the Dominion at this week’s sales. At Addington (Christchurch), there was a firm
sale in all main sections. Store sheeji made good prices. Two-tooth ewes to
23/6, lambs to 20/3. Fat lambs made late rates, to 29/1. An entry of 3200 fat slump of poor quality met a keen demand, to rise 1/- to 1/0. Wethers to 30/7, owes to 28/7. An entry of 430 fat cuttle met a good demand with firm prices. Bullocks to £l2 12/6, cows to £8 7/0, heifers to £8 12/6.
At. Johnsonville (Wellington) values ware firmer. Bullocks to £8 6/-; cows and heifers to £5 15/-; fat wethers to 20/6, ewes to 19/-, lambs to 23/6.
At Burnside (Dunedin) the quality of both fat sheep and cattle was improved. Fat cuttle closed firm nt prices slightly above hist week's rates. Bullocks to £ll 7/6, heifers to £7 12/6, cows to £6 2/6. An entry of 3102 fat sheep hud a bright sale at; full lute rates. Wethers to 31/3, ewes to 23/-, lambs to 29/6, At Westfield (Auckland) there was a distinctly bright tone. Beef rose 2/per 1001 b., reaching the best prices since December, 1931. The rise was 15/- to £1 per head. Bullocks to £lO 10/-, cows and heifers to £6. Prime million was in short supply, and sold nt fully maintained late rates. Wethers to 30/-. ewes to 19/6. Lambs showed in improvement, making to 28/6,
