Sideshow Lorry Capsizes
SKID IN LOOSE METAL 'By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N.. Feh. 13. While proceeding from Wellington to Masterton, via Palmerston North, last night a. “sideshow” lorry, containing Thornton’s chairoplane equipment, skidded in some loose metal near Linton and capsized. The five occupants were all seriously injured, and are now in Palmerston North Hospital. The injured men are: — Harry Thornton, of Napier, owner of the side-show; 52 years of. age. William Whittaker, of Napier, 54 years of age. Frank Welfare, of Napier; 29 years of age. George Ward, of Wellington; 31 years of age. Harry Crabtree, believed to belong to Napier; 43 years of age. The accident occurred at about eight o’clock at a spot about four miles south of Linton. The lorry skidded in loose metal at the foot of a hill, overturned twice, and came to rest at the side of the road. Mr. Thornton was driving the lorry and with him in the cab was Mr. Welfare. The others were on the back of the lorry. Assistance was quickly forthcoming and the injured men were conveyed to hospital.
