On the occasion of Ins diamond wedding anniversary, wireless telephony was used on Sunday evening by Mr W. Chitty, of Hamilton, to exchange greetings with relatives at Dover, England. Arrangements had been made for all Mr Chitty’s English relatives to gather in one house at Dover and the co-operation of the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Department was enlisted. At the appointed time the words “London speaking, hold on for Dover," were heard.
