NEW GOLD DOLLAR

Immediately Effective (Received 1, 11.50 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 31. The new gold dollar became effective immediately the proclamation was signed by the President, who announced to-day that the Treasury would purchase any and all gold at a price of 35 dollars per fine troy ounce, subject to the usual deductions for mint and handling charges. AMERICAN GOLD NOTES 10,000 Dollar Denominations (Received 1, 12.55 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 31. The presses of the Federal Bureau for printing and engraving were busy to-day clicking out gold notes which will go to tho Federal Reserve and other holders in exchange for metal deposited at the Treasury. As the notes are not designed for circulation, they are printed in 10,000 dollar denominations.
