ANNUAL STATISTICS. FIGURES FOR PAST YEAH. A glimpse at the statistics of th* Napier building inspector for the past two years illustrates the fact that the bulk of reconstruction work commenced shortly after th* earthquake of 1931, was finished by the end of 1932. During th* year the value of permits Issued amounted to £433,529, compared with £127,861 for 1933, representing a decrease this year of £305,668. The above figures show that the busiest month of the two years under review was August of 1932, when the total value of permits was £92,740. In that month many large buildings were commenced. During the year the busiest month was March, when the value of permits amounted to £21,105. The reconstruction of Napier since the earthquake has involved the issue of 392 permits, representing a total value of £828,407. No more permits will bo issued thig month by the building inspector. During the month only three permits were issued, involving a sum of £1958. These were in respect of a garage in Dickens street for Mr MacFarlane at a cost of £768, and two houses to cost £ll9O.
