HAWKE’S BAY CENTRE New Year Tournament 34 TEAMS ENTERED The Hawke’s Bay Bowling Centre’s New Year tournament will take place on January 1 and 2, 1934, on the Hastings, Kia Toa, Heretaunga and Havelock North greens. A total of 34 teams has entered, and the play promises to be of a high order. Three games of 21 heads each will be played each day, play commencing at 9 a.m. sharp. Morning and afternoon tea will be available on all the greens at a small charge, but players will have to make their own luncheon arrangements The following clubs have entered teams: Kia Toa 6, Havelock North, Hastings and Wairere 5 each, Napier 4, Port Ahuriri 3, Omarunui 2, Waipukurau 2, Bluff Hill and Heretaunga 1 each. The Thursday combined bowling chilis played on the Napier club’s green yesterday and were fortunate to finish tho games before the rain. As a mark of respect to the late Mr Creagh, the bowlers observed a minute’s silence. Tho chairman (Mr Boyd) briefly paid tribute to the let® Mr Creagh’s many good qualities.
