Misunderstandings Explained
Replying to the debate on the seond reading of the Native Purposes Bill, in the House of Representatives, ■ii' A. T. Ngata said he was satisfied, as ho had said before, that the tone in Parliament was friendly to tho Maoris. There had been misunderstandings outside among the Maoris, but he had pointed out to them that the pakeha was jealous of the due observance of everything in regard to expenditure of public money, and to-day the Maoris were throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the preparation of work which would show the true spirit of Waitangi. The Bill was read the second time.
