Renovation to be Done LOCAL LABOUR ENGAGED In accordance with the recent decision of the Department of Education, the Hastings Central School and the residence of the headmaster. Mr D. I. McCormick, are to be completely painted and renovated. A contract has been let by the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, and the board’s architect has already engaged labour for the work, which is to begin on December 27. Some of the men engaged are Hastings tradesmen, and it is expected that four unemployed painters will be given work. The contract price for both jobs is £420, and the work is to be completed by the end of the school holidays.
