DRIVERS’ LICENSES
English Practice Urged NO PERSONAL APPLICATION (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. Dec. 30. The executive of the South Island Motor Union decided to-night to request the Commissioner for Transport to adopt the English practice of issuing a license which can be renewed without the necessity for personal application. It was argued that there should he no need for a person below the age of G 5 years to present himself in person and all the expense to the department could be saved by insisting upon the applicant sending a stamped, addressed envelope for a reply.
