AMERICAN BOYCOTT

AGAINST GERMANY, ITALY, CHINA AND RUSSIA LABOUR FEDERATION DEMANDS WASHINGTON, October 18. The American Federation of Labour to-day declared a boycott against ail goods made in Germany and other countries whose Government* have opposed free trade unions. The boycott was approved with only one dissenting vote among the 600 delegates. Originally planned for Germany alone, the boycott was extended to Italy, Russia and Chins. When the regulations committee reported that it was unwise to single out one Government, the committee’s report mentioned ‘‘the Government of Italy with its Fascism, Russia with its Communism and China with its chaos”. The resolution was clarified by Mr Green, who explained that while the adoption of the committee’s report >• regarded as a condemnation of the labour policies of Russia, Italy end China, the boycott itself will bet directed effectively only against Germany.
