ADDRESS BY MISS McMILLAN. The October meeting on Friday afternoon at the Sherenden Hall, the president, Mrs. Bayley, presiding. Correspondence was read from the director of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, acknowledging the sum of £ll 17/6 realised for the sale of basketware at the Division’s last meeting, and thanking members for this splendid sum and their support. Mrs. Wright wrote advising members about the final cultivation of their sweet peas for the display at the November meeting. Mrs. Wright has interested herself in the amateur gardeners’ efforts to produce good specimens of sweet peas and her help is greatly appreciated. The official business of the meeting over, members then enjoyed a rare treat in listening to a lecture by Miss Violet McMillan, B.H.Sc., holder of the Sara Ann Rhodes Diploma in Home Science. Miss McMillan, who has a charming personality and pleasing speaking voice, chose for her address “Food and Health.’’ A most instructive address on foods and their relative values to body building was eagerly listened to and those members who were privileged to hear Miss McMi! lan’s lecture felt that they had gained n mine of most useful knowledge. Sli:‘ pointed out that New Zealanders should have better health than they do as they have all the facilities for getting the right kind of food.
