WRESTLING

WALKER DEFEATS CLARK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HAWERA, Aug. 19. After having given the impression that he could have ended the bout much earlier, Walker defeated Clark by submission falls gained with a hammerlock and a Greek cross respectively in the fourth and fifth rounds of a colourless bout last night. Clark secured the first fall in the third round with a dump and a body press, but never seemed to give serious opposition. He apparently was suffering from the effect of a recent back injury. The very large attendance showed little enthusiasm in the early stages and an apathetic attitude towards Clark's fate. Pennies were thrown into the ring during the bout and a large section hooted vociferously at the conclusion.
