TRIBESMEN SURRENDER

BATTLE WITH FOREIGN LEGION. END OF BERBERS’ STAND. RABAT, August 18. The French mobile columns report that the 5000 Berbers have surrendered. The Foreign Legion was waging a fierce battle in the Atlas Mountains 10,000 feet above sea level. It was officially claimed that the battle represented the last stand of 5000 Berbers who were encircled, but it must be remembered that the French have before claimed that the Moroccan tribesmen have been conquered.
