ANTI-COMMUNIST PLOTS. EXPULSIONS AND ARRESTS. LONDON, August 18. “The Times’ ” Riga correspondent, states that following the alleged discovery of many anti-Communist plots the Soviet has expelled several thousand Communists from the party and arrested many as enemies of the people Some in key positions allegedly gained advancement by false pre fences The transport difficulties have increased since the railways have been subjected to the emergency law Seventy-eight transport wreckers were arrested at one station, and there have been similar occurrences elsewhere. The Usranian Academy of Agiictll ture has been reorganised, and 13 professors have been removed. RUSSIAN GRAIN YIELD. REPORT OF GOOD HARVEST MOSCOW, August 17. “The high yield of grain deliveries is a feature of the harvest,” states the Tass Agency. “The August programme of collective farms in the Kharkov and Leningrad regions was more than fulfilled before schedule time. Some districts have already completed the year’s programme for the elevators.
