GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S TRIBUTE. SERVICES TO EDUCATION. AUCKLAND, May 22. A tribute to the late Sir Thomas Sidey was paid by the Governor-Gen-eral at the jubilee reception at the Auckland University College. “I should like to refer briefly to the serious loss the cause of education in the Dominion has suffered,” said His Excellency, “in the passing of Sir Thomas chancellor of tho University of Otago. New- Zealand has lost a zealous and most generous educationist, and its public life has lost a senator of ripe experience, unblemished character and great zeal for tho public welfare. I am sure it is your wish that there should be conveyed from this gathering an expression of sympathy- with Lady Sidey and members of her family,” FUNERAL AT DUNEDIN. GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVE WELLINGTON, Monday. The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, who had intended to return to Wellington from Christchurch to-mor-row morning, is proceeding to Dunedin to represent the New Zealand Government at the funeral of Sir Thomas Sidev.
