A particularly contemptible theft was committed at the girls’ establishment of the Hawke’s Bay Children’s Home, Napier, during the week-end. A large quantity of meat had been placed in the meat-safe outside the building, for consumption during the weekend, when some person went to th* safe and stole the entire store. As • result of this mean theft over 40 children had to go without their week-end supply, but owing to the generosity of a storekeeper a quantity of tinned meat was made available.
