A Wellington Press Association message says: There was a noticeable increase in the number of railway passengers carried to and from Wellington during the Easter holidays this year compared with past years. Noticeable features of the traffic were the largo number of passengers who made only short trips. Trains travelling between Wellington and Palmerston North and intermediate stations were well filled, and heavy truffle on the j Wairarapa line, on which many racei goers were carried to and from Tauherenikau. Traffic on the inter-island ferry steamers was fairly heavy, and travel by road again proved popular, both private and commercial vehicles carrying large numbers of holidaymakers.
